Preparation
aniline (2 Moore) diazotization and o-Cresol coupling.
Properties and Applications
yellow to orange (mineral oil). Soluble in ethanol and toluene, hardly soluble in water. In concentrated sulfuric acid to red light brown, dilution after dark brown solution, and then have yellow brown precipitation; In hot concentrated hydrochloric acid for yellow brown solution; At 2% hot sodium hydroxide solution for red light brown. Used for alcohol, esters, hydrocarbon solvent, oil and paraffin color.
