Steps:
1.3; 2.3; 3.3 Step 3. Preparation of 2-nitro-2'-hydroxy-5'-tert-octylazobenzene:
1 mol of 4-tert-octylphenol, 1500ml of ethanol is added to the coupling reactor, stir and dissolve, and cool to below 10 °C. Adjust the pH to a weak alkaline with a 15% aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (optimum pH 7.2-7.8). Temperature-controlled dropwise addition of 2-nitrodiazophenyl hydrochloride solution, the reaction was carried out for 3 hours, suction filtration, and the filter cake was washed with a small amount of ethanol. Drying gave 2-nitro-2'-hydroxy-5'-tert-octylazobenzene with a yield of ≥94% and a purity of ≥98%.
