Seal 50 mg of gold wire and 0.5 mL of 98% selenic acid in a quartz tube, and heat the tube in an oil bath at approximately 150°C until the gold wire is completely dissolved (this may take more than ten hours). Dilute the resulting solution with water to form golden yellow fine gold selenate (Au?(SeO?)?) crystals. Carefully separate the crystals from the solution, wash them with a small amount of water, dry them, and store them away from light. |
