General procedure for the synthesis of tert-butyl 3-(aminomethyl)azetidine-1-carboxylate hydrochloride from 1-Boc-3-aminomethyl azetidine: A solution of 1-Boc-3-aminomethyl azetidine (15.5 g, 82.9 mmol) in ethanol (250 mL) was slowly added to a 1 L reactor. Subsequently, 1.0 M hydrochloric acid solution (83 mL) was added. The reaction mixture was distilled under reduced pressure at 38 °C to remove the solvent to afford the target product tert-butyl 3-(aminomethyl)azetidine-1-carboxylate hydrochloride as a white solid (18.0 g).
