Determining the levels of the ceramides (Cer) d18:1/16:0Cer d18:1/18:0Cer d18:1/24:0and Cer d18:1/24:1 and ratios in human plasma helps to predict fatal outcome of coronary artery disease. The stable isotope form of C24 Ceramide (d18:1/24:0) is convenient for a newly described validated liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry methodology for their clinical-scaled measurement.
