TCA-calcium was produced by first manufacturing technical trichloroacetic acid through the established industrial chlorination-oxidation of acetic acid or acetaldehyde, then neutralising the purified acid with a calcium source, typically calcium hydroxide or calcium carbonate, in a controlled aqueous medium. The reaction conditions were managed to ensure complete salt formation without excessive dilution, allowing calcium trichloroacetate to crystallise cleanly. | [Mechanism of action]
Selective, systemic, absorbed by roots and translocated. Inhibition of lipid synthesis | [Pesticide Type]
