The pure product is pale yellow needle-shaped crystals (dyes are usually yellow or yellow-brown powders). Its melting point is 139-140°C and its relative density is 1.211. It is insoluble in water, but readily soluble in acetone, ethanol, ethyl acetate, acetic acid, and boiling benzene. This product is toxic and easily absorbed through the skin, causing poisoning, but is rapidly excreted in the urine. | [Definition]
