2-Fluoro-5-formylbenzoic acid is an important pharmaceutical intermediate compound used in the preparation of active pharmaceutical ingredients such as olaparib, interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 4 (IRAK4) degraders and PARP7 inhibitors. | [Uses]
2-Fluoro-5-formylbenzoic acid is an aldehyde compound that can be used to prepare a key intermediate for olaparib. This substance is used to prepare olaparib intermediates via the Wittig–Horner reaction. However, the aldehyde compound itself is unstable and possesses reducing properties, making it prone to oxidation to a carboxylic acid. Consequently, the key olaparib intermediate I produced via this reaction invariably contains impurities in the form of related substances. Furthermore, the reaction requires inert gas protection and anhydrous reaction conditions, making the process complex to carry out.
