The commercial production of fenfluthrin is not described in open literature but its structure and class make the commercial route well understood: production followed the standard pyrethroid ester assembly process, in which a cyclopropanecarboxylic acid derivative, bearing the 2,2 dichloroethenyl substituent characteristic of fenfluthrin, is synthesised and then esterified with a fluorinated aromatic alcohol to generate the final active ester.
