Thiomyristoyl (TM)是一種有效的、特異性SIRT2抑制劑，IC50為28 nM。它抑制SIRT1的IC50值為98 μM，而在濃度高達200 μM時，對SIRT3沒有抑制作用。

Thiomyristoyl(TM)是一種具有高度選擇性的SIRT2抑制劑。它不能有效地抑制SIRT3, SIRT5, SIRT6或SIRT7。在體外，它能顯著地抑制細胞活性，其細胞毒性對癌細胞具有一定的選擇性。TM在癌細胞中降低c-Myc腫瘤蛋白水平。在不同細胞系中，TM降低c-Myc豐度的能力與細胞系對TM的敏感性相關。
TM的抗癌效果與它降低c-Myc水平的能力相關。TM對非癌細胞系和沒有腫瘤的小鼠的效果非常有限。
