4-DMHSBCB, the full name being 4-(1,1-dimethyl-1-hydroxy)silylbenzocyclobutene, is an active organosilicon monomer. Its reactive silyl hydrogen bond and the benzocyclobutene unit, which is capable of ring-opening reactions, enable it to undergo a variety of organic reactions, facilitating the synthesis of a wide range of high-performance resin materials. For example, 4-DMHSBCB can be used as a raw material for the preparation of benzo[b]cyclobutene-functionalised cage-type polysiloxanes and their resins.
