Beschreibung

This is the major alkaloid isolated from the leaves of Pachysandra terminalis Sieb. et Zucc and occurs in the weakly basic fraction of the alkaloidal extract. It is dextrorotatory with [α]_D + 35° (CHCI3). With LiAIH4 it yields the deoxo derivative, m.p. 175-7°C; [α]_D + 35° which may be oxidized with manganese dioxide in CHCl3 to give a compound C29H420N2, m.p. 273-6°C; [0']0 + 36°.
