Allgemeine Beschreibung

LCK (Lymphocyte-specific protein tyrosine kinase) gene belongs to Src family of protein tyrosine kinases (PTKs) and is localized to cytoplasm and cell membrane. It is mapped on to chromosome 1 at 1p34.3 and is organized in 13 exons, out of which, 12 are coding exons whereas one is putative 5′-noncoding exon.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The protein encoded by the gene plays a pivotal role in the selection and maturation of developing T-cells. Lck binds to CD3ζ and inhibits CD59-triggered Ca 2+ signaling. It acts directly on TCR/CD3 pathway in Jurkat T cells and hence facilitates T cell responses.
