Guggul is used to decrease high cholesterol, to promote weight loss, and to treat arthritic conditions. It is used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat obesity and increase fat metabolism. Guggul is believed to increase thyroid function, but no studies confi rm this. Guggul may be used to treat gum infections (gingivitis, pyorrhea, mouth ulcers) and for sore throat and digestive complaints.
