A major class of antipsychotic drugs that are
based on substituents of the thioxanthene (dibenzothiopyran),
rather than the phenothiazene, tricyclic moiety. Drugs of this class
(e.g., thiothixene) are believed to be antagonists of both the D1
and D2 classes of dopamine receptors.
