Allgemeine Beschreibung

Myelin basic protein (MBP) is an 18.5kDa protein encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 18q22qter. MBP is a major component of the myelin sheath and is highly expressed in central nervous system (CNS).

Biochem/physiol Actions

Maltose Binding Protein (MBP) mediates uptake of maltose. MBP is a substrate for chaperone secB. Fusion of proteins with MBP tag at the N -terminus improves their solubility.
