Allgemeine Beschreibung

CPLA2/PLA2G4A (phospholipase A2, group IVA(cytosolic, calcium-dependent)) is located on human chromosome 1q31.1. cPLA2α is an 85kDa protein made of 749 amino acids. It is a member of the the α-β hydrolase family. CPLA2 has an N-terminal C2 domain (Ca2⁺ - dependent, phospholipid binding) and two catalytic domains (α/β hydrolase). This protein is located in the cytoplasm.

Biochem/physiol Actions

CPLA2/PLA2G4A (phospholipase A2, group IVA(cytosolic, calcium-dependent)) helps to hydrolyze phospholipids at the sn-2-acyl ester bond to generate free fatty acid and lysophospholipid second messengers. It is associated with several diseases like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, asthma and arthritis.
