Beschreibung

This alkaloid is obtained from the mother liquors from Anhalonium Lewinii Hennings as the crystalline (+ )-tartrate. The free base is a colourless oil having [α]²⁰_D + 20.7° (MeOH) and characterized as the 2:4: 6-trinitrobenzoyl derivative, m.p. 259-2600 C; [α]²⁴_D + 39.7° (MeOH). It has been identified by comparison with the (+ )-component from the resolution of synthetic (±)-anhalonidine 0- methyl ether. The (-)-isomeride has [α]_D - 20.1° (MeOH) and gives the corresponding 2:4:6-trinitrobenzoyl compound, m.p. 259-2600 C; [α]²³_D - 43.7° (CHCI3)·
