Beschreibung

The root bark of Rauwolfia confertiflora Pichon yields this alkaloid which forms colourless crystals from AcOEt. The base is strongly dextrorotatory with [α]²⁰_D + 129° (c l.5, CHCI3). In MeOH, the ultraviolet spectrum exhibits absorption maxima at 225,286 and 310 ffiJ.1. The alkaloid has been shown to be pentacyclic and contains a methoxyl group, an allyl group, a methoxycarbonyl and an acetoxymethyl group.
