Recrystallisation from solvents such as EtOH, MeOH, toluene, Et2O gives the higher melting form, and resolidification gives the lower melting form. [IR: Chapman J Chem Soc 4680 1958, 2522 1956.] The S-isomer is recrystallised from CHCl3/pet ether and has m 76-77o, [] D -2.8o (c 6, CHCl3).
