mango (Mangifera indica) is associated with various benefits, including anti-oxidant skin-softening and smoothing properties, thanks to natural enzymatic activity. When listed simply as mango, it is difficult to identify which part of the plant is used. This limits a full understanding as to why mango was selected for a cosmetic formula. While mango fruit is considered astringent in a cosmetic, the extract of both the fruit and leaf are skin conditioning. Mango seed is abrasive and hence used in scrubs, while the seed oil is emollient.
