This gene encodes the human ortholog of chicken YAP protein which binds to the SH3 domain of the Yes proto-oncogene product. This protein contains a WW domain that is found in various structural, regulatory and signaling molecules in yeast, nematode, and mammals, and may be involved in protein-protein interaction. Biochem/physiol Actions
YAP1 is a WW domain containing protein that is known to associate with a wide range of transcription factors and functions as a transcriptional co-activator. It may also regulate p73 gene function in response to DNA damage. Alterations in YAP1 have been associated with tumor development Anti-phospho-YAP1 pTyr357 antibody is specific for human phospho-YAP1 pTyr357. The product may react with chicken and mouse phospho-YAP1 pTyr357. In immunoblotting, staining of the phospho-YAP1 (pTyr357) band is specifically inhibited by the immunizing peptide; but no inhibition is observed with the unmodified peptide.
