Beschreibung

An alkaloid from Rauwolfia vomitora, the base yields colourless crystals from MeOH and has [α]_D - 173.4° ± 1° (c 1.0, CHCl 3). The hydrochloride has m.p. 223° C (dec.). Acid hydrolysis of the base furnishes tetraphyllicine and gallic acid trimethyl ether.
