The main mode of action is believed to be the inhibition of the cytochrome P450-dependent demethylation of an intermediate (at the C14-methyl group of lanosterol or of 24-methylene-24,25-dihydrolanosterol) during the sterol biosynthetic pathway in fungi (28).
