N749, [(C4H9)4N]3[Ru(Htcterpy)(NCS)3],also referred to as "black dye", was developed for the widest range spectral sensitisation of wide band-gap oxide semiconductors (like titanium dioxide up to wavelengths beyond 800nm). N749 black dye is a ruthenium complex, in which the ruthenium center contains one terpyridine ligand substituted with three carboxyl groups and three thiocyanato ligands??
Reduced graphene oxide (rGO) can be surface modified by using N749 to enhance the photocatalytic characteristics of hydrogen evolution system. It may also be used as a high efficiency dye for niobium pentoxide (Nb2O5) photoanodes which can be used for the fabrication of titanium oxide (TiO2) coated dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs).?? ??
N749 Black Dye (N749) has ruthenium at the center that forms a co-ordinate bond with the monoprotonated tricarboxyterpyridine and three thiocyanates.
