Description
Divalproex is a prodrug form of valproic acid that contains valproic acid and valproate sodium. Formulations containing divalproex exhibit delayed gastrointestinal absorption and are converted to valproic acid in the intestine, which reduces gastric irritation and nervous system side effects.
