Use
Sodium ascorbate (C6H7NaO6) is the sodium salt form of vitamin C that is more easily absorbed than ascorbic acid. Sodium ascorbate can be given as an injection. Sodium ascorbate is also found in osmotic laxatives indicated for cleansing of the colon as a preparation for colonoscopy. It may also be found as an ingredient in other pharmaceutical products. Sodium ascorbate can also be used as a food additive and is listed on the FDA list of generally recognized as safe (GRAS) substances.
