| | Sodium decane-1-sulfonate Usage And Synthesis |
| Chemical Properties | white powder | | Uses | Ion-associating reagent for HPLC, including analyses of peptides and proteins. | | Uses | Anionic surfactants, Sodium 1-Decanesulfonate which acts as a reactants to generate defined ubiquitin-protein conjugates by up to 10-fold resulting in high yields even at low concentrations. | | Uses | suzuki reaction | | General Description | Sodium 1-decanesulfonate is an ion-associating reagent. | | Synthesis | A method for the preparation and purification of sodium decanesulfonate, an ion-pair chromatography reagent, comprising the steps of:
(1) Sulfonation: in a 1000ml three-necked bottle equipped with a cooling reflux device and mechanical stirring, add 126g of anhydrous sodium sulfite and 450ml of water, then add 125g of bromodecane and 1.2g of tetrapropyl ammonium bromide, and heat and reflux for 16 hours until the reaction solution is clarified and not stratified.
(2) purification: in 85 / 20mmHg conditions under reduced pressure evaporation of water in the reaction mixture, the remaining solid drying and crushed, loaded into the Soxhlet extractor, extracted with 1300ml anhydrous ethanol, obtained 162 grams of crude, and then 2600ml of anhydrous ethanol recrystallization, filtration to obtain the pure product.
(3) drying: the purification of the product in a vacuum drying box, at 80 / 100mmHg conditions, drying 2 hours, 132 grams of finished products (yield 61%), content ≥ 99.6%.
| | Purification Methods | Recrystallise it from absolute EtOH and dry it over silica gel. [Beilstein 4 IV 62.] |
