UsesSodium tetrathionate dihydrate may be used to compose the 0.2M Tris buffer in a study.
General DescriptionSodium tetrathionate dihydrate is the dihydrate of sodium tetrathionate. It has been synthesized from sodium thiosulfate by iodine oxidation. Its crystals exhibit monoclinic crystal system and space group C23-C2.
SynthesisA method of catalytic synthesis of sodium Lian tetrasulfate with loaded monomers of iodine, the specific steps of which are as follows: adding sodium thiosulfate, water, loaded monomers of iodine, organic solvent A in a reactor in sequence at 0-40 , reacting for 4-36h, and at the end of the reaction, filtration, filtering, dissolution of the cake in water, filtration, recrystallization of filtrate by adding to a cold organic solvent B, filtration, and drying to obtain the product of sodium Lian tetrasulfate. Specific steps are: 1) weighing drying to constant weight of activated carbon added to 2.5% iodine in ethanol solution, room temperature stirring and filtration, with ethanol wash several times to neutral, 70 drying to a constant weight, placed in a desiccator, cooling and weighing, calculating the loading. That is, iodine loading = (W1-W)/W1100%, wherein: W1 is the mass of activated carbon after loading (g), and W is the mass of activated carbon before loading (g). 2) Add 20 g of sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate, 20 ml of water to a 500 ml aubergine bottle, stir at 4C until dissolved, and then add to the aubergine bottle 35 g of iodine with a loading amount of 30% of the activated carbon prepared according to the method described in Example 1 Load of iodine in monomers, 100 ml of anhydrous ethanol, stirring at 4C for 12h, filtering, the filter cake was washed with 10 ml of anhydrous ethanol for three times, the filter cake was placed in a 100 ml beaker, 10 ml of water was added, stirring to dissolve, filtration was done, the filtrate was added to a 500 ml aubergine flask, to which 100 ml of cold anhydrous ethanol was added, stirring for 6h, filtration was done, the filter cake was washed with 10 ml of anhydrous ethanol for three times, the The filter cake was placed in a vacuum drying oven, 2-8 , drying 12h, that is, the product of sodium Lian tetrasulfate, calculated, the yield is 72%, purity is 95%.
