Industrial production of the parent active involves assembling the long-chain alkyl morpholine structure through sequential alkylation and ring-closure steps, followed by purification to technical-grade dodemorph. To form the benzoate salt, the purified dodemorph is dissolved or suspended in a suitable medium and reacted with benzoic acid under managed pH and temperature conditions that promote complete salt formation while avoiding excess free acid or unreacted amine.
