| Uses | Triethylarsenic is a derivative of arsenic and is mainly used in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. | | Synthesis | Triethylarsine was prepared as follows: 2 mol of triethylaluminum was introduced into 300 ml of petroleum ether and treated at room temperature with 2 mol of AsCl3 in 300 ml of petroleum ether with stirring. The rate of drop acceleration depended on the reflux strength of the solvent. After addition, stirring was continued for 5 hours and then the solvent was removed by distillation. 4 mol of KCl was added to the residue and it was stirred again for 2 hours. All volatiles were condensed through a U-tube under liquid nitrogen template cooling. Fractionation gave triethylarsine.
