| Synthesis | Part B: 4,6-Diiodo-2-methylpyrimidine (1.83 g, 5.29 mmol) was placed in a sealed tube and an ethanol solution of 2M ammonia (10 mL) was added to form a suspension. The reaction mixture was heated at 100 °C for 18 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was cooled to room temperature and subsequently concentrated under reduced pressure. The resulting solid residue was washed with ethyl acetate (EtOAc) and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to give 4-amino-6-iodo-2-methylpyrimidine (1.05 g, 84% yield) as a light yellow solid.LC-MS (m/z): 235 ([M+H]+). | | References | [1] Patent: WO2007/75852, 2007, A2.
