| | TRI-N-OCTYLALUMINIUM Usage And Synthesis |
| Chemical Properties | clear colorless solution | | Uses | Polyolefin catalyst. | | Flammability and Explosibility | Pyrophoric | | Synthesis | Trioctylaluminum was prepared as follows: 10 g of TNBA and 5.6 g of 1-octene and 1 mg of Co(II) catalyst were used at a temperature of 60C for 20 min. 5.3 mg of Pb(II) was added after 20 min to kill the catalyst. The standardized alkyl area % obtained after alkyl hydrolysis of the product alkylaluminum showed 58% C4 and 42% C6. The chain growth reaction temperature was 125 C and the ethylene pressure was 2500-3000 psig (17.2-20.7 MPa).
