| | 1,3-Bis(chloromethyl)benzene Usage And Synthesis |
| Chemical Properties | Colorless to light yellow liqui | | Uses | m-Xylene Dichloride is used in ionic liquids to increase their thermal stability as well as used as a reagent in C2-Symmetric Small Molecule Inhibitors. | | Synthesis | The synthesis process of 1,3-bis(chloromethyl)benzene is as follows:
(1) Reaction: 100 g of m-xylene and 0.1 g of 1-propyl-3-methylimidazole chloride salt were added to a reaction tank, and then 106.5 g of chlorine gas was passed into the reaction tank under the irradiation of LED light source, and the reaction was carried out for 6 h at 60 , to obtain m-dichlorobenzyl reaction solution with 70 wt% of m-dichlorobenzyl content;
(2) Separation: m-dichlorobenzyl reaction solution was added to the separation tank, and layered at 35 , the upper layer of the solution into the reaction tank to continue the reaction, the lower layer of the solution is the m-dichlorobenzyl crude product;
(3) Refining: add m-dichlorobenzyl crude product to the distillation column, carry out decompression distillation under 8mmHg, collect 145-149C fraction, get 116.59g m-dichlorobenzyl, the content of 99%, melting point is 33.5-34.8C. |
