Introduction to 1,1,3, 3-tetramethoxypropane

Tetramethoxypropane is a useful synthetic intermediate. It can be used to synthesize various compounds such as diiodonoradamantane and Salicylates[e.g. Salsalate(S095700)].

Production method

It is obtained from 3-nitro-p-amino-anisole reduced by iron powder. Add 60% acetic acid and 3-nitro-p-amino-anisole to a reduction pot, stir for half an hour, add iron powder. The heat is heated to 60%, and the heat preservation reaction is the end point until the liquid permeation ring is colorless, and 4-methoxy-1, 2-phenylenediamine is reduced.
