Sulbactam sodium is an irreversible and competitive β-lactamase inhibitor, which can inhibit the β-lactamase produced by both Gram-positive and negative bacteria (except Pseudomonas aeruginosa). The irreversible reaction with the enzyme deactivates the enzyme, and the enzyme activity cannot be recovered after the inhibitor is removed
