Production method: 

1, 3-dimethoxybenzene is prepared by the reaction of resorcinol and dimethyl sulfate. Resorcinol was mixed with sodium hydroxide solution, dimethyl sulfate was added under agitation, methylation was carried out at 26 ~ 30℃, and then the finished product was obtained by separation, washing and distillation. In the laboratory preparation, resorcin (1mol), 200mL methanol and dimethyl sulfate (1mol) were added to the reactor, stirred and dissolved, cooled to -5℃ in an ice salt bath, immediately added 150g potassium hydroxide and 350mL water to prepare a solution, and the methylation reaction was completed within 3 minutes. After stirring for 5 minutes, the oil layer was diluted with water to separate the oil layer, the water layer was extracted with ether, the oil layer and the ether extract were combined, washed, dried with anhydrous calcium chloride, the ether was recovered on the water bath, and then distilled by direct fire, and 1, 3-dimethoxybenzene 124g was obtained with a yield of 90%.
