Sodium lactate is a colourless or yellowish transparent syrupy liquid with strong water absorption capacity. No odor or slightly special odor, slightly salty and bitter taste. Mixed in water, ethanol and glycerol. The general concentration ranges from 60% to 80% (by weight).

Toxicity of sodium lactate: ADI value is not restricted (FAO/WHO, 2001), it is not suitable for infants with lactose intolerance.
GRAS (FDA, 184. 1768, 2000).
