Description Methyl phenethyl ether has a powerful diffusive and penetrating odor with a warm, floral note. It is "grassy" and pungent on dilution. May be prepared by catalytic reduction of phenylacetaldehyde dimethyl acetal; from phenylethyl alcohol and methanol.
