Ammonium chloride (referred to as "ammonium chloride", also known as halogen sand, chemical formula: NH4Cl) is a colorless cubic crystal or white crystalline powder. Salty and bitter, sour salt. The relative density is 1.527. Soluble in water and ethanol, soluble in liquid ammonia, insoluble in acetone and ether. The aqueous solution is weakly acidic and becomes more acidic when heated. When heated to 100℃, it begins to volatilize significantly, and at 337.8℃, it dissociates into ammonia and hydrogen chloride, and then recombines to form ammonium chloride with very small particles and is white smoke, which is not easy to sink and is extremely difficult to dissolve in water. Heated to 350℃ sublimation, boiling point 520℃. Moisture absorption is small, but it can also absorb moisture in wet and rainy weather. It is corrosive to ferrous metals and other metals, especially to copper, and has no corrosive effect on pig iron.
