The precursor drug, which is absorbed rapidly, is mainly converted into the active metabolite Benazepril in the liver and exerts its angiotensin-inhibiting effect. For high blood pressure.
Indications:
1. Hypertension: can be used alone or in combination with thiazide diuretics. With benazepril hydrochloride, it must be noted that another angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (i.e., captopril) can cause granulocenia, especially in patients with renal dysfunction or collagen vascular disease.
2. Congestive heart failure. As an adjunct therapy for patients with congestive heart failure who do not respond well to digitalis and/or diuretics (NYHA grade II-IV).
