Chlorobutanol (Trichloro-tert-butanol) is a colorless crystalline organic substance. There are two kinds of crystals, including semi-molecular crystalline water type and anhydrous type. Containing half molecular crystalline water type melting point 78oC, slightly soluble in water (1:250), easily soluble in ethanol (1:1), glycerol (1:10), ether, volatile oil. The melting point of anhydrous type is 97oC, the boiling point is 167oC, 135oC (32.7kPa). Soluble in hot water, 1g can be dissolved in 1ml ethanol or 10ml glycerol.

Application:

It is mainly used as raw materials for medicine, and can be used as antiseptic, antiemetic and local analgesic. Its 1% aqueous solution or 5%-10% ointment can be sterilized. It can also be used in organic synthesis.
