Colorless transparent flammable liquid. It has a choking odor. In contact with light or air, it becomes a 

pale yellow liquid, and its vapor is a strong lacrimal agent. Soluble in water, it can be mixed with ethanol,

 ether, benzene, toluene, kerosene and gasoline in any proportion.

Application:

1. Used for making n-butanal, n-butanol, rubber vulcanization accelerator, alcohol denaturation agent and tanning agent

2. Organic synthetic raw material, used to produce butanal, butanol, 2-ethylhexyl alcohol, sorbic acid, 3-methoxybutanal, 3-methoxybutanol, butenic acid, quinaldine, maleic anhydride and pyridine products. In addition, the reaction of butenal with butadiene can produce epoxy resin raw materials and epoxy plasticizers. The chemical reaction with pentaerythritol can obtain the heat-resistant resin material. Butenal can also be used to produce blowing agents for mineral processing, dyes and rubber antioxidants, pesticides and military chemicals. Industrial grade butenal is actually a mixture of trans isomers and cis-isomers [4170-30-3]. However, the cis-isomer is unstable and contains less than 1%.

3. Used as chromatographic standard material, rubber accelerator, antioxidant and insecticide, also used in organic synthesis
