Hypromellose phthalate (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose phthalate, or HPMCP) is a phthalic acid ester of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. In the pharmaceutical industry, hypromellose phthalate is used as a coating agent for tablets and granules. It is a colorless, odorless, white powder.
Application
The product is a favorable enteric soluble film coating,which can protect drugs from digestion by gastricacid.It is used in controlled-release tablets or capsules,and as microcapsules bases.HPMCP is usuallyused alone,but can be used in combination with other polymers.
