Lincomycin, a lincomamide antibiotic produced by Streptomyceslincolnensis, acts on the ribosomes of sensitive bacteria by binding to the central ring of the 23SrRNA gene of the subunit 50S, preventing the extension of the peptide chain, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis in bacterial cells. In clinical Chemicalbook, lincomycin is mainly used to treat infectious diseases caused by gram-positive bacteria. Lincomycin is also used for semi-synthetic preparation of clindamycin, which is a semi-synthetic chlorinated derivative of lincomycin, suitable for various infectious diseases caused by gram-positive bacteria and anaerobic bacteria, and can also be used to treat infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
