| Description | Moscatin (Plicatol, 4-methoxyphenanthrene-2,5-diol) is a diphenyl derivative that can be extracted from Dendrobium nobile Lindl. It inhibits arachidonic acid-induced platelet aggregation, and is able to inhibit Candida albicans virulence and growth by down-regulating the expression of genes such as ERG, HSP, and ALS. |
| In vitro | Moscatin inhibits washed rabbit platelet aggregation in a concentration-dependent manner, showing complete inhibition of AA- and collagen-induced aggregation at 100?μg/mL. Moscatin IC?? against AA-induced aggregation is 37.2?μM, likely by interfering with thromboxane A? formation [1]. |
| In vivo | In mouse infection models (systemic and OPC), moscatin injection (20?μg/mL, 200?μL) significantly reduced the pathogenicity of Candida albicans SC5314 [2]. Moscatin restored gut microbiota balance in Candida albicans-infected mice, increasing beneficial bacteria levels and reducing fungal burden [2]. |
