Application:

Good water resistance combined with good anti-adhesion, good fluidity and excellent pigment wet-ability (which makes PVA resin ideal for the production of pigment pastes) make the PVA resin series suitable for use as a binder for printing inks, if properly formulated, this ink is odorless and tasteless. Because the resins in the PVA series are soluble in solvents that do not contain harmful substances (such as ethanol) and have excellent adhesion to organic substrates such as cellulose acetate film, polyester film and polystyrene, as well as to aluminum foil, they are ideal for offset and gravure inks for food packaging. Here, low molecular weight SD-1, SD-2, and SD-3 are preferred. Adhesion to problematic surfaces, such as polyolefin films with pre-treated surfaces, can be improved by incorporating aminoalkylsilane. Screen printing inks can be formulated with SD-5 and SD-6.
