Salinomycin premix is mainly used for the prevention of coccidiosis in chickens.  It has a wide anthelmintic spectrum and is effective against chicken tender, poisonous, heap type, giant, brucellosis, and slow Eimeria coccidia.

Since salinomycin has a significant inhibitory effect on gram-positive anaerobic bacteria, it has a certain growth-promoting effect on animals.  Tests on pigs showed that feeding 30-60mg/kg of medicine to piglets less than 4 months old and 15-30mg/kg of medicine to piglets between 4 and 6 months old had obvious improvement of feed remuneration and growth promoting effect.
