   Sodium alginate, a polymer substance, has functions such as suspension aid, thickening, emulsification, and adhesion. It is mainly used as a suspension aid, emulsifier, thickener, and microcapsule material in pharmaceuticals. Used as adhesive for tablets (1% to 3%) and disintegrant (2.5% to 10%); Used as a diluent in capsule formulations; Also used for preparing oral sustained-release formulations, as it can delay the release of drugs from water-soluble suspensions; It is widely used as thickener and suspending agent (5%~10%) in paste, ointment and gel, and as stabilizer (1%~3%) in oil in water emulsion. A 0.5% to 2.5% aqueous solution can be used to smooth the eroded surface of the skin, which can eliminate and dry water-based secretions.
