Zirconium fluoride - Introduction

Zirconium fluoride is an inorganic compound. It is a colorless crystal, soluble in water and inorganic acids, and can react with hydrofluoric acid.

A common method for preparing zirconium fluoride is by reacting zirconium oxide with hydrofluoric acid. Heat zirconia and concentrated hydrofluoric acid together to high temperature to react and produce zirconium fluoride. The reaction equation is as follows:

ZrO2 + 4HF → ZrF4 + 2H2O
